In the ever burgeoning truck market, manufacturers are pulling all stops, to make their truck stand out from the crowd. Few companies, have however, managed to bring about a significant change in the market. Some companies like Ford, however have managed to get close to achieving this with their low volume truck packages like FX2, King Ranch and the Raptor pick up truck.
However, the Ram brand from Dodge also has a great lineup of trucks on offer. Some of their latest truck models like the Outdoorsman, Ram Runner and Longhorn, have got many truck enthusiasts in the trucking industry talking. The Outdoorsman was the latest model to be released. According to Ram, the package for the Outdoorsman has been designed so that it can meet the different needs of camping, fishing, boating and hunting enthusiasts.
The new package is being offered in all of the three heavy duty and light duty pick up trucks, the 3500, 2500 and 1500. This package will replace the earlier TRX4 package. Some of the trim level options that are offered in Ram include the SLT, ST, Lone Star/ Big Horn, Sport (1500), Power Wagon (2500 Hemi) and the Laramie (including the new edition of Longhorn). Some other new packages such as that of the Adventurer and Tradesman will soon come out as well.
The features and style of the truck are quite well done, with Ram including all off-road towing features as well as an option of four wheel drive available for the platform. Apart from this, all of the Outdoorsman models have also got some of the biggest fuel tanks found in the market, with the 1500 having a 32 gallons fuel tank, and the Ram HD trucks having either a 34 gallon or 35 gallon fuel tank, depending on the length of the pick up bed chosen.
The Outdoorsman also has at least Class IV hitches which have both seven pin and four pin plugs. Some other features include a differential limited slip and a cooling heavy duty package. This truck also makes use of Goodyear Wrangler 275/70R17 AT/S tires which gave the entire package quite a rugged stance. All of the Outdoorsman packages include paints of two tones. As is expected in most 4×4 rugged trucks packages, this package too has skid plates for transfer case and front to provide a more serious protection during exploration of the rougher terrain of backcountry.
