Callaway, one of America’s leading tuning house who are known for modifying the Chevrolet Camaros and Corvettes, recently released information and pictures about their first ever full size, high performance pickup truck, the C19 Callaway Silverado Sport Truck. This pickup truck is based on the current 1500 Chevrolet Silverado half ton pickup truck.
Two different engine choices are available with this truck. These include the V8 6.2 liter and the V8 5.3 liter engine. Both of these trucks are supplied with Twin Vortices root type Eaton superchargers. These same superchargers are also used in the Cadillac CTS-V and the Chevrolet ZR-1 for boosting power to reach stratospheric levels.
The powertrain tweaks from Callaway also feature an intercooler system that is air to liquid having fuel injectors of high capacity as well as an air intake system that has high flow. The V8 5.3 liter engine delivers 450 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and a torque of 450 pounds feet at 4,000 rpm. According to Callaway, meanwhile, the V8 6.2 liter engine delivers 540 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and a torque of 522 pounds feet at 3.800 rpm.
This is a rise of 115 pounds feet torque and 135 horsepower over the average 5.3 liter engine and an increase of 105 pounds feet torque and 137 horsepower over the average 6.2 liter engine. In spite of the huge differences in performance, Callaway has promised that their trucks will offer a similar fuel economy rates as the standard Chevrolet Silverado truck, which EPA has rated at 21/15 mpg for highway/city for the 4×2 5.3 liter engine and 18/13 mpg for highway/city for the 4×2 6.2 liter engine.
Some of the other Callaway improvements feature injector covers of carbon fiber, an exhaust system which is low restriction, embroidered floor mats and headrests, as well as Callaway key fobs and badging. Callaway also offers a 36,000 miles, three year standard warranty.
Other optional upgrades feature a supercharger housing which is chrome plated, nine spoke Callaway alloy wheels which are paired with BFG tires, LeMans GT brakes and Callaway suspension, an interior sport package, tonneau cover as well as a 100,000 mile, five year warranty, while you can avail your truck right from the factory.
